春游

Chūnyóu

(a spring excursion; chūnyóu — spring excursion, trip, tour)

Tīng tóngxué shuō (/my/ classmates say; tīng shuō — /they/ say: to hear + to speak), chūnyóu hěnhǎo wán (/that/ a spring excursion /it/ is very interesting; hǎo wán — merrily; cheerfully: good + to play).

Hǎo bù róngyì (at last; róngyì — easily; hǎo bù róngyì — with difficulty, here at last: well + no + easily), zhè yì tiān dàolái le (this day came).

Yì zǎo (early in the morning; yì zǎo — from early morning, early in the morning), wǒ dào le xuéxiào (I came to school; xuéxiào — school), kàndào yì páipái qìchē (/and/ saw buses /lined up/ in rows; pái — row, line, to place, to arrange; qìchē — car, transport, here bus).

Tóngxuémen pái zhe zhěngqí de duìwǔ (the classmates lined in regular columns; pái — to line/draw up /in rows/; zhěngqí — regular; duìwǔ — column, rank: detachment/squad/group + troops) zuò shàng le chē (got on the buses), shǐ xiàng chéngjiāo de guǒyuán (/and/ went/drove to the country orchard; shǐ — to rip, to speed, to drive /a car/; xiàng — preposition of direction; chéngjiāo — suburb, outskirts: city/town wall + suburb; guǒyuán — /fruit/ orchard: fruit + garden).

Yílùshàng (all the way; yílùshàng — on the way) wǒmen chàng zhe gē (we sang songs), xīnqíng géwài yúkuài (the mood /was/ especially joyous; xīnqíng — mood: heart + feeling; géwài — especially: cage; norm + outside/beyond; yúkuài — joyous, joyful, cheerful), yīnwèi (because) wǒ shàng xiǎoxué yǐhòu (after I /began/ to go to primary/elementary school; xiǎoxué — primary/elementary school: little/small/young + to study/learn; shàng xiǎoxué — to go to/study at primary/elementary school) jīntiān (today = that day) háishì dì yī cì qù chūnyóu (after all/all the same /it was/ for the first time that /I/ go = went on a spring excursion; háishì — or, for all that, still, however).

Dàole guǒyuán de ménkǒu (when we reached the entrance of the orchard; ménkǒu — entrance, entry: door + mouth), tóngxuémen pāi le jítǐ zhào (the classmates took: «photographed for» a group photo; pāi — to clap, to flap; pāizhào — to photograph; to take pictures; zhào — to light up; to cover; photo, picture; jítǐ — collective, joint: to gather + body), jiù pòbùjídài de zǒujìn guǒyuán le (and immediately hurried/rushed to enter the orchard; jiù — immediately, right away; straight away, then; pòbújídài — exigent; crying; urgent: to force/urge/urgent + no + to reach + to linger, to stay too long).

Dǎoyóu (the guide: to lead/guide + trip/tour/travel) shǒuxiān dài wǒmen pǐncháng guǒyuán lǐ de shuǐguǒ (first of all led/took us to taste the fruit from the orchard; shǒuxiān — in the first place, the first thing, first of all: head + firstly/at first; dài — to lead, to take /with oneself/; pǐncháng — to taste: thing + to try).

Wǒ chī le (I ate) chéngzi, xiāngguā hé yìxiē yěguǒ (oranges, melons and some wild berries; xiāngguā — melon: aromatic, fragrant + pumpkin; yìxiē — some, /a/ little, /a/ few).

Ránhòu (after /that/) dǎoyóu dài wǒmen qù kàn zájì biǎoyǎn (the guide took us to see: «look at» a circus performance; zájì — circus: mixed, various, diverse + art, skill, mastery; biǎoyǎn — performance, show: to express + to perform; to act; to show /on the stage/), hái yǒu wǒ tèbié xǐhuan de móshù (and in addition/also /some/ tricks /which/ I especially love; hái — still, more, in addition; tèbié — /e/special; móshù — trick: magic + art)!

Kànwán biǎoyǎn (after /we/ saw the performance), wǔfàn shíjiān dào le (the time came to have lunch = lunch-time approached), wǒmen qù guǒyuán de cāntīng chīfàn (we went to the restaurant of = in the fruit orchard to eat; cāntīng — restaurant: food + hall).

Nàli de cài wǒ dōu hěn xǐhuan chī (I liked all the food there), hé bàba māma zuò de bù yíyàng (/it was/ cooked not as /my/ mom and dad /cook/; bù yíyàng — unlike; different; dissimilar: «not one kind/type»; zuò — here to cook /food, meals/)!

Zhīhòu (after that), dǎoyóu shuō (the guide said) dài wǒmen qù zhuō níqiū (that /he/ would take us to catch loaches; zhuō — to catch; níqiū — loach; ní — mud, clay).

Yì tīngshuō zhuō níqiū (as soon as /we/ heard /that/ to catch loaches; yì — here as soon as, once), tóngxuémen dōu gāoxìng-qǐlái le (the classmates all became happy/glad; qǐlái — to get up; to stand up; to rise, here a modifier indicating a sudden onset/beginning of an action), nǐ tuō xié (you take off /your/ shoes; tuō — to take off; xié — footwear, shoes), wǒ tuō wà de (I take off /my/ socks = all took off /their/ shoes and socks; wà — socks).

Kāishǐ wǒ hěn pà (at first I was very afraid; pà — to be afraid of, to fear), zài shàngmian lāo (/I/ caught on the surface/top; shàngmian — top, surface; lāo — to catch, to get out of the water).

Hòulái (then), wǒ xiǎng (I thought), zhèyàng wǒ huì chéngwéi quán bān zhuō dé zuì shǎo de yíge (thus I would become /a student/pupil/, /who/ would catch the least in /my/ class; zhèyàng — in such a way, so, thus; chéngwéi — to become; huì — a modal verb, indicating the possibility of action in the future; quán — all, the whole of; bān — class, group; zuì shǎo — the least), suǒyǐ wǒ jiù yǒnggǎn de tiàojìn shuǐ lǐ qù zhuō (that’s why I bravely/boldly jumped: «jumped-entered» into the water to catch; yǒnggǎn — brave, courageous: brave + to dare), zhuōdào le liù tiáo (/I/ caught six pieces; tiáo — a measure word for fish), zhēnshì hěn kāixīn (it is very joyous/joyful; zhēnshì — that’s really, that’s for sure; zhēn — real, genuine, true, authentic; kāixīn — joyous, joyful, cheerful: to open + heart).

Shíjiān guò de kě zhēn kuài (the time flew very quickly; guò — to pass; kě — here to enhance the meaning of the adjective; zhēn — real, really), xiàwǔ sì diǎn (after lunch at four o’clock), wǒmen dàjiā dōu yīyībùshě de líkāi le guǒyuán (we all reluctantly went out of the park; dàjiā — all: big/large + family; yīyībùshě — to part reluctantly: yīyī — to hesitate; shě — to abandon, to leave; to throw off; to refuse, to reject smth; líkāi — to part, to leave).

Zhè cì chūnyóu zhēnde hěn hǎowán (this = that time the spring excursion /was/ really joyous)!
